Coral depths is that sort of area that everyone spends time in but not
everyone either gets the theme or enjoys the sheer fun of fighting under the
Ocean or fighting Mermaids. Coral Depths has a few great points and a major
weakness that seems to not help promote its ability to help new characters
level from around eight to mid-twenties. The first thing to understand about
Coral Depths is that it isn't really Atlantis (Although an Atlantis area
would be a great addition). It is a water filled kingdom consisting three
main sections. You have the beach, which contains a vital store and many
gulls and crabs. The second part to CD is under the ocean, with many fish,
sharks, a hidden cave and easily a few hours worth of levelling fun. Lastly
we have mertown and the mer-keep which has a school and a royal family, along
with a store and hand objects that can be found whilst exploring. With all
this being said CD does have a weakness in that it is over-populated by
botting drones, looting the gold from the crab guards and eels. Coral Depths
has a high population of avs and explorers alike and the botting issue is
one that most players will not really notice if they plan only a quick visit.
Coral Depths is a fun diversion from exploring the mountains, forests,
lakes and cities around the realms, there is little danger of a death trap
and hours of fun for the seasoned or new players. I would give it the
following ratings below, which I hope will be of help when deciding where to
level. One of its high points is, players around the late twenties can
attempt to best old Neptune himself, so the roleplay factor is all there.

One can really expect a player to play the area out in their mind and
forgetting the world of reality or the sloggish exploring over mountains and
dales with side trips to Darkhaven or Thul ab'hara when they need to restock
with heals, sancs and food supplies. Areas that submerge players fully are
hard to come by and luckily Coral Depths fills that category,

Explanation of the process:
- 4 guys and 1 girl, or 4 girls and 1 guy will be randomly selected on a first
come first serve basis. The 4 will choose a name to be associated with them.
- Assuming this is the 4 guys 1 girl scenario, the girl will ask a question and
mudmail it to me. I will make 4 copies, and send them to each of the guys,
and they will answer in a mudmail to me.
- Forwarding the 4 answers on a separate mudmail to the girl, the girl will
decide and choose 1 guy to be outcasted.

Snowboarder
What is my favourite mob? Hmm... so much to choose... I'd say Bahamut, cuz
he's strong yet humble, fierce yet respectable. Day in and day out, warriors
enter his cave and battle the dragon... yet he still holds firm and only few
are rewarded Justices - his most prized possession. Obviously he has a kind
heart to those who pay him respect :)
And, I gotta say I have another favourite mob - the rabbit of Caerbannog...
I mean, come on, who doesn't love a rabbit who lives in a cave, and can
decimate a warrior with a pounce? :P

My favorite mob in realms is probally Vyhan. He's part of the Empty head
mini-quest, which is a great run to do with friends. Lots of time to talk
with company, and you get a cool reward for it. It takes time and effort,
but the reward is great, and you can even share it with others.

has a loyal swarm of raven minions to do its bidding!

Why? Because I've played here long enough to see her evolution as well as I
always used to hang out in there, and despite her spamminess, I "raised" many
of my mentees from that room, good times, good times.

If I could change anything in the Realms, I would probably use my Godly-powers
and transform New Darkhaven into something that's at least appreciable... look
at it now... even Thul Ab'hara is doing better than Darkhaven, not to mention
how well the houses are selling in puny Ofcol! Anyway, I'd vamp-up Darkhaven
into a large metropolis so at least we'd have a colesseum, so we don't have to
run into the bushes to fight :P And who can forget a nice high-class
restaurant so at least people can go on a date there *wink*!

If I could change anything, I would make Midway open a lot more, then
everyone could enjoy the puzzles, jousting, and all the games. I'd say it's
the area that everyone has the most fun in, and will enjoy the most.

pet gremlin along all the time...
What's worse, they go and make these flesh masks out of maggoty corpses :( It
makes a great Hallowe'en costume, but some nephandis just carry a whole pouch
of them! Yeah, thinking about nephandis kinda makes me shiver *brr*

The Ups And Downs Of Trading: The Dark Side By: Thivia

Many of us have been involved in, or know someone who has made a bad trade
at some point during their gaming life. Even the best of us have made a
slip or two at some point. Here are a few tips and tricks that will,
hopefully, keep you from falling into a potential trap.
- Check the price often! The quickest and easiest way to get the current
market value on an item is to ask for a price check, or "PC" on the
traffic channel. But don't always believe what you hear! It's best to wait
a few hours, or a day or two, and ask again. Make sure the prices you get
coincide.
- Give the item a good look before paying! If you followed my advice from
last month, then you either know the item's stats, or know where to find
them quickly. Check to make sure the item you are about to buy is the
correct one. Also, check to make sure that the item is not "etched". This
occurs when a mob's spells or breath damages an item in such a way that it
permanently lowers the item's armor class. If the item is not handed to you
up front by the seller, ask to see it and identify it (either with a spell,
or a magical tablet). If the seller is not willing to do so, perhaps they
are not someone you'd like to do business with. Of course, on the other side
of the coin, if you hand someone an item and they disappear without paying,
don't expect much help from an Immortal; they tend to stay out of such
disputes (see 'help trade').

- Patience REALLY is a virtue! Say, for instance, you find out that the price
on an item you're looking for is 15 million coins. You've been trafficing,
and watching auction... to no avail. One day, someone responds to you, but is
only willing to sell for 20 million. Should you buy it? I'll leave that up to
you to decide. It's really a matter of how badly you need it, and how long
you're willing to wait. But don't get mad when you buy for 20, then see one
sell on auction the next day for 10. Trust me, it happens.
Now at this point, you might be saying, "Why trade at all if there are so many
dangers?" Trading is a HUGE part of the game, and almost impossible to survive
without. Don't be scared to trade, just be well educated and trust your
instincts. Next month, we'll go into some detail about auctioning. Until then,
trade safely!

THE JOURNEY BEGINS
------------------
Your adventure will begin like all newbies, with you spawning in the Tower of
Knowledge as a level 2. If you did not do so then, this is probably a good
time for you to go all east and wait to be transfered to the equipment
collection area.
Once transfered you will proceed down, and then go north, south, east, and
west until you collect all of the armor from the creatures there. Next you
will go down and follow the hallway to the dragonsnake. Upon killing the
dragonsnake go leave up, and then go west to the battle area where you will
kill aphids, dragonflies, slugs, mice, and rats to gain experience until
level 5.
Once you reach level 5 you will be ready to leave the academy and venture
out to the areas listed below. Remember to practice before leaving the
academy. Enhanced damage, strike, dodge, parry, second attack, aggressive
style, standard style, and your weapon style are good ones to have.
The first thing you should do once you reach level 5 is obtain a deity.

see the list of deities availible, locations of their NAOS, and benefits
of each.

PREPARE FOR DEPARTURE

Before heading out to level one should stop by pkill town and get a few
REQUIRED items if they plan to level successfully. Your first stop will be
the pkill town store located 2 south, 2 west, north of Gravoc. Read HELP
PKMAP for details on how to get in and out of PKill town.
When you arrive at the store, this is what you should buy before leveling:

Use the satchel in place of the burlap sack, it hold more. As a brand new
player you may not have the money to buy these items in the amount show
above. If that is the base buy less of each according to your GOLD.

LEVELING
--------
This section will provide you with the first 2 areas you can visit to gain
experience once you leave the academy and have devoted to a deity.
For directions to these areas visit: www.nelkum.com
Level 05 - 10: Shattered Refuge
Level 11 - 30: Coral Depths
In Coral Depths you should start by killing eels, starfish, seahorses, sharks,
narwhales, and the other open ocean mobs. Once you reach level 20 you can move
onto the Mertown mobs like young mermen, crab guards, and little mermaids.
wait until level 24 or so before you start attacking mermaids and mermen.
Never attack the seaweed.
While leveling remember to use leveling spells from the angel north of Gravoc.
From Gravoc go north and say "grand me might" to get these spells. In pkill
your base hit points are important so try to max your constitution by using
the leveling spells and "a guards waistflesh" + "a coat of bone plate" from
the armor shop located 3s,2w,n of Gravoc.

1) Always use sanctuary. This reduces the damage you recieve by 50%.
2) Always have a descent amount of heals on you. As a deadly you are always
open for attack from both mobs and players.

4) FLEE if you are in danger. Try to become familiar with the area you are

5) Do not trashtalk. As a newbie you will get killed, it's part of being a
deadly. Just stand up, find your corpse, and get back to leveling. The
worse thing you can do is talk trash to the person that killed you, as
this will only make them attack you again.
6) If you need help ask on wartalk, ask, chat, and racetalk in that order.
7) Do not bug clan leaders about induction unless you are a level 24 warrior
or have reached level 50 and feel you are familiar enough with pkill to
benefit the clan.

Disciplinary infractions are on the rise at the Academy, and the culprits this
time are illicit drug abusers. An investigative committee, led by yours truly,
scoured the neighborhood surrounding the Academy and determined that the
likely source is the Dragon Exports Company over on Law Avenue. We cased the
joint for several hours, at least from the outside, since we couldn't get in
without knowing the password. We tried the obvious, which is to say that the
password is, "There isn't any password," but they didn't fall for that.
The shifty clientele going in and out of the place only furthered our
suspicions. They seem to be dealing in some sort of hallucinogenic weed, and
I'm not just talking about the relatively harmless pipeweed from the Shire.
This is hardcore stuff, and we are in the process of petitioning Duke Luther
to put a stop to it.

We saw evidence of a money laundering operation going on there as well,
because the candy shop there is probably just a front for the drug dealing.
Speaking of the candy, we seriously need to keep this stuff from falling
into the hands of the Academy kids. Parents, please warn your children to
stay away from shifty predators who ask, "Hey, n00b, want some candy?"
One of them left some vampire candy stuff on the counter in Deren's shop,
and frankly, I don't know how vamps can eat that stuff, because it's as nasty
as poo. There is also something called zombie candy, and you'd better avoid
it, because not only will it knock you out, but even after you regain
consciousness, you'll still be disoriented and may have a tough time
recognizing where you are. Some kids reportedly have been blinded by it.
Until we can get this Dragon Exports place shut down, we need volunteers to
patrol the streets in the southern half of Darkhaven. If you see any newbies
south of Market Street, please escort them back to the Academy, and do not
allow them to linger anywhere near Law Avenue.

Thus this issue, let us look at some advise and attitudes to take for
newcomers to the roleplaying scene.
If you are a new roleplayer focusing on your first character.
I would simply suggest starting small before venturing to be big if you are
going to work on one character alone. Over the years, some of us might
remember very distinctively of renowned roleplayers who failed miserably
here because they decide to take the Huge Plunge which usually comprises of
very extreme immortal-complex roleplaying, very intense need to win, and a
quick temper to flare.

I'd say, learn to start out small, and experience the joy in growing your
character, pathing your Character's decisions and enjoy the emoting. Once you
have gained a certain foothold in the Roleplay Community, that is then you
will feel more confident to launch into the more sensitive and extreme
roleplays because you will know your fellow players well enough to discuss
the possibilities of such extremities with them. And that is then, roleplay
becomes rewarding.
What are some examples of 'starting out small'?
A young seamstress looking to be employed as a dressmaker for a princess.
She may work her way to becoming close friends with the royal and thusly
work her way up in society.

be able to branch into playing other age groups and lifestyles more easily,

Where can you gain experience to learn the roleplaying of other characters?
The ability of adapting real life circumstances and weaving imagination into
it to roleplaying comes with practice. Sometimes, inspirations from new
characters come after reading a particularly good novel or watching a movie
that has impressed you. You might want to roleplay a certain occupation, or
perhaps another age group, someone younger, a child or an old man. The
Internet is a great place to grab information about various occupations,
especially those in the medieval-like or fantasy worlds as the way people did
their work then is different from what we experienced in the real world we
are in.
For example, there were no medical doctors then, and clerics who are able to
perform magical healing were common. The way to dress a wound becomes
different where your imagination comes into play. You can roleplay using
herbs and poultices to treat the wound, or you can employ the use of magical
healing powers to cleanse it as well. Thusly, in this way, you still can draw
minimal experience of wound-cleaning from what you learnt in First-Aid class
and toss it with some imagination, create a very believable scene very easily.
Till then, have fun creating your character and roleplaying.

As the snow falls upon us much tragedy has befallen the half-orc nation.
Carnak has been captured by his own kin and is being tortured within the
confines of the Mountain, and rumors are abound that his captor is an enemy
thought dead.
The walls of Krozloy are in need of great repair- at some points an entire
section is missing. The towers that once stood proud to defend the lands
surrounding the mountain have been toppled, and only stone and skeletons
remain in their former place.
What segments of the wall still remain have heads displayed atop of them -
heads of the former nobles is all anybody can guess. The once splendid
banners are now nothing more then tattered fabric stained with blood and
soot.
What awaits the nation in the near future? Only time will tell...

That's right. Our princess is going to marry the Drow king. The announcemnt
was made at a banquet held by King Kosaim in the Pixie Forest. Many
dignitaries and leaders of the nations of the realms were in attendance.
Also there was disturbance by a drunk pirate. The pirate identified as Raisten
of the Midnight Orchrestra, was drunk and waving a knife at Phalar. He was
removed by Pixie Guards. He was found with an invitation with the royal seal.
No information how he got the invitation.
In other news, an investigation to how pixie dust ended up in the abbey is
under investigation. This dust is being modified to create a lethargy spell
that affects half-ogres.
Padraig has been found guilty of Light Treason, he was given a choice between
going to T'man with a sign in trollese that says, 'Extra Tastey' or becoming
the court jester He chose the later.

young male found his way along the cobbled streets of Eldestra. Where there
were once childlren and families frequenting these streets, they were now
sparse and giving very little aquaintence for newcomers. Promising to find a
cure, the man known as Lemmy set out once again in search of answers yet to be
found by others.
The illness that had overcome many Elohai citizens had ceased its spread among
the people. Those already afflicted however showed little improvement,
occupying the monastary under the watchful eye of the priestess, Tilea. She
too had finally born the marking upon her palm like those under her care.
Having found no remedy readily accessible, people have started questioning the
idea of searching further among the realms. Perhaps calling upon those that
were able to aquire rare plants was the next course of actions. The
Commoneweath, an organization they were not part of, could prove to be an
obstacle in obtaining such things easily.
Meanwhile, a vampire by the name of Miyaka, answering to no one but herself
and her cause, was about to recieve her first request from the Speaker. Should
she choose to accept or not, is to remain unknown.

from Iniquity's gates to taint the ears of the innocent.
The Ilythiiri have begun their movements, though unlike in times past their
goals are far from obvious. Despite the loss of its nobles, the aristocratic
dictator Phalar Dryden along with his close ally Lyreth plot quietly behind
the scenes. Many assumed the Drow would strike out against the Commonwealth
using Phalar's affluent trading company as a passive weapon, but such an
attack has yet to happen. In fact, the Drow have made no move against the
Commonwealth or any surface Nation. Their affairs, for the most part, seem
limited to their underground city. That is, except for one such affair.
Through an agreement with the Pixie King, Phalar and Kosaim's daughter
Aristacia have been politically engaged. Having announced this rather
abruptly at his feast, many Nation Leaders were left stunned in the wake of
a strong Pixie - Drow alliance. To make matters worse, Phalar seemed to
express true emotion for Aristacia, a characteristic not befit for a drow,
nor one to be expected from the miserable Drow King. With their marriage
comes an end to the Pixie's membership in the Commonwealth, and a rise to
more prosperous opportunities for both the Ilythiiri and the Fey. Though
many speculate the Drow are up to something horrendous, no evidence exists
to support such claims. Instead, those who doubt are left waiting for
Phalar, Lyreth, and the Ilythiiri nation to make their next move.

This month we have some important news to bring you from the Island of
Irrybis the top stories for today.
An elf finally at rest.
Leanq Blueleaf was finally laid to rest in a beautiful ceremony that saw him
take the final journey to Arvanaith. Many Quendi participated in showing
their respects and honouring the dead with words of remorse and flowers
while guests from the guild of rangers and friends of the deceased partook
also. May you finally be at peace Leanq Blueleaf.
Assassination Attempt!
A terrible assassination attempt has recently taken place, the victim Aran
Gildeth Calon Dracos was struck by a hidden arrow as he was preparing to say
his final goodbye to the dead elf Leanq, thanks be to the gods the arrow
stuck his shoulder but still just missing his heart by inches. General
Draginox took the blow of a second fast moving arrow that was intended to
finish the job while everyone searched the area for the assassin. High Priest
Cleryst and his sister Talisha took care of the wounded instantly trying to
stop the bleeding and work out the poison, after much care and hard work both
successfully recovered. The assassin was killed by the gathering of elves yet
we are asked not to mention who or what the assassin was more on this as it
develops.

Merchant Caravan
A large caravan of Quendi merchants and travellers have taken on the long
journey from the north side of the realms and the Island of Irrybis to the far
South and the city of Sanctus Irae. Much is hoped to come from this trip as
Aran Gildeth recently recovered has taken the journey with a number of
prominent elven names with him. We heard rumour that the caravan was attacked
by a large number of goblins and orcs that we are finally allowed to reveal is
believed to be linked to the assassination. Our rumours were confirmed however
as word was sent back to Irrybis of the safe arrival of the caravan and the
attack, it is said they were lucky to make it there without a single casualty
they hope to make their journey home in a couple of weeks time when the royal
ship Destiny and its fleet shall arrive in Sanctus Irae for the journey home.

for the holidays so noone's noticed! ;) Actually, real life just hit Sarkain
