A beast who is idle will not long survive. A beast that takes more

survive. The barbarians, who live as the beast does, know this as fact.
They fail to comprehend how the towndwellers, with their bizarre
magics and supposed book-wisdom, can not understand. To the barbarians,
the decadence and selfishness of the towndwellers seems foolish. A life
where the best interest of the individual surpasses the survival of the
tribe is unthinkable. Though towndwellers would consider the barbarian
life uncivilized and crude, it is a simpler way of life based on
tradition, honor and duty to the spirits. The strength, courage and
hardiness of the barbarian is honored only when it serves these beliefs.

Barbarians live in a daily struggle for survival. Strength is their
foremost requirement, but constitution to endure long hunts and harsh
living is a close second. Barbarians do not waste their time on idle
pursuits like study and are deficient in intelligence as a result. As
such they are unable to read or recite scrolls. Their superstitions
concerning magicks render them highly susceptible to spellcasters and
unable to use magic items.

The hardiness required for the barbarian life allows Humans, Half-Elves
Half-Orcs, Half-Trolls, Half-Ogres, Dwarves and Dragonborn to follow

Now that Prestiges have been around for a few years, are there plans to one
day open up the Barbarian class to be able to Prestige?

During the beta testing of some Prestige skills there were some items which
had the flag "multiclass" i.e. prestige only items. Is there any plans to
revisit this idea for items only wearable by prestiges, or perhaps even the
opposite, items wearable only by non prestiges?

to be on new player retention, are there any other goals CoE would like to

No, there isn't. (Sorry, brief answer but an accurate one)
Question from Speira.
The flag went past the beta and is in game. Any future use (either for
prestige/multiclass or standard characters) is at builder discretion.
Question from Namsar.
I would say that the new player experience/retention is indeed a focus,
but we also want to continue to ensure a good experience for current
players. I think the new building and quest work that has been
taking place is great and we hope that keeps interest up.
Question from Niki.
I think that's a great question that I would be lying if we said we had the
answer to right now. I would say it's not simply a matter of prestige, but
also that we have adjusted to a state of perpetual accrual with precious
little lost. This has been both a game philosophy and an upgrade in
client capacities over the years (ex. of each being: the downgrade of dts/
damage triggers to strip eq). I think with assistance newer players can now
easily get to a very good state, but the gap between that and where a
prestiged/gloried character is is growing. If anyone has the balance
solution to that without disenfranchising current players, we would be
very interested in hearing it. For now, we do the best we can.

Hello Guys!
Romani had a great idea for this months RP story, I'm going to post a
4 part series of the different types of Roleplay. I found it very
informative and I hope you do too.
This months type is Literate Roleplay
Literate Roleplay
Literate roleplaying is similar to semi-literate and novella in a way: it goes
more in depth with what the character your playing as is doing, feeling and
possibly saying/thinking. Instead of simply typing something like the
character walking to a coffee shop, the person writing would go deeper into
detail, its kind of like writing a short story. Many literate roleplayers
would think of different adjectives and verbs to use, just to add more
descriptions into your starters or replies. It also adds onto the plot and
gives the other person a better insight of whats going on in the plot, not to
mention a good reply if the other person is invested into the roleplay and
something to picture in your mind when reading.
Normally, semi-litertate roleplayers would be more simple and short with
replies and starters, literate roleplayers would think of different ways to
lengthen the reply/starter to make it more interesting to read. When reading
a literate reply or starter, its a bit normal to see stuff like thoughts the
character had at the time, maybe some detail on how the ground felt when the
character was walking on it, or how the character was as a person overall. When
typing up a storm, the ideas are endless. Even the longest reply/starter a
literate may send could seem short to them, to others though, it looks like a
story that could be interesting to read.
Example:
A tanned brunette boy going by the name of Eren Jaeger was walking in the
dimly lit barracks. It had been five years since that day, the day he lost
everything. After long years of self reflection he had finally pushed his
energy in the right direction, pushed the determination into something that
could save humanity. Although, his anger issues were still a problem he was
trying to resolve; There had been numerous changes to the males personality,
maturity being a main playing part.

She holds a polite gaze upon him, yet her attention couldn't be farther away
from the small man and whatever squabble he fancied worthy of the interruption.
As his thoughts moved across the presences closest to him, the stranger scents
had begun to rise. It was not before long that an unnecessarily colorful glass
tumbler of two shots arrived before him Sincerely the black knight looked to
Marcello, and did not speak a word as he set three silver coins aside the glass
and lifted it. It was then, that he tucked the banner down to his throat to
empty the glass in his gullet.
It poured through him bearing such untraceable reactions to his drinking that
only the faint 'clink' of glass against the bared countertop would escape near
him. Although the scents soon arose, as having found some social custom in
drinking, and gradually the subterfuge of sparse crystal shed light gave his
eyes quite the advantage. In this light, his flesh grew no darker when he
extended and drew from the shadows. The comfortable setting gave way to the
rise of scents, and death, old death. [Deasthrom]
Halah laughs nervously. There was still bad blood between the two lands, and he
knew there were few political tricks up his sleeve to bend the will of these
newly manufactured nobles. He traces one hand over the parcel concealed within
his tunic.
"Lady Canto Rosa, we are prepared to offer your people a rather handsome bounty
to forget these silly squabbles and feuds our two lands have endured." Halah
scrutinizes the woman, awaiting a response, if anything at all.

The Marquessa continues to regard the man placidly, though his very presence
was doing little to assuage her already darkened spirit. More talk of his
precious land and title... it never seemed to cease.
Her smile gives way to a playful grin, and she extends a pale hand out in
invitation toward the empty seat facing her. "Please, join me." If it was land
and nobility that entranced her husband so, perhaps she'd deliver him a gift
of her own.
Waiting until the man had taken his proper seating the Marquessa toys a slow
finger at the base of the red votive. "Before we may speak of treaties or pact,
Signore, you must assure me of your title and station that bear your right to
such a request."
The anger welled up from the corner of the inn, dangerous politics they were,
and yet, somehow this excited him. The shadows thickened and bubbled around the
Lion in his mix of pleasure and fury.
Arising from the comforts of the bar, the black knight reached his right hand
to the left drape of his sash. He tossed it over his head and it hung by his
right shoulder as a squared cloak. With the graceful movements of a most
uncanny balance the drow danced his way, heel to toe, to where the tumulting
darkness rose against the off light. He did not approach though, yet idly
concealed himself by, turning his ear and an eye unseen the matter. It was not
hard to identify his own kin, as his heart soon longed and did quell the throb
again quickly, and then he lay as a most devious trap.
It was the shadows of course, drawing him closer. And so his duty extended even
to the Marquessa as the black knight blended into a nearby table.
