If you do not know her, you are missing out on\n one of the more helpful immortals in the Realms of Despair.\n For those that do and those that do not, here is a chance to\n know her better.\n\n Kuah: How long have you been playing in the Realms?\n\n Valanna: Four and a half years. :) and with tons of\n characters.\n\n What was it like back then with your very first character?\n\n Easier.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Feature Story\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nA Chat with Valanna\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n How so?\n\n Well, I was knew, some people gave me a few pointers, I could\n easily level characters then. Now, things have changed a lot.\n\n Do you think the changes overall have been good?\n\n Outstanding changes! New Darkhaven, so much better than the\n old one. Seth is very different, there were no deities and\n thus no supplicate, no guilds, no orders, just clans. Been a\n ton of changes, new classes, races, hometowns were never an\n idea.\n\n Is it easier now than it used to be?\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Feature Story\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nA Chat with Valanna\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n Yes and no. Yes because there are now stat spells for better\n base hp and mana, more spells, portals, transport. Zmud has\n come a long way, people can multi quite well. No because the\n game is larger, a bit more complex, and takes more time to\n learn. But it is better.\n\n How did you become an Imm? And are you glad you did?\n\n Lots of work, lots of playing nice. I am very glad. I'm also\n an imm because I have a degree in Ancient and Medieval history.\n being an immortal, despite being hard work and annoying, is a\n lot of fun for me.\n\n What are some of the annoying things about it?\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Feature Story\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nA Chat with Valanna\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n Annoying, players. Players with attitudes who don't realize\n immortals are here to make the game better. Some players argue,\n some ignore the rules, some swear at me. Keeping track of one\n of the largest muds around gets spammy. It requires quick\n reading, quick reflexes, and quite a good amount of smarts.\n\n What are some of the better things about being immortal?\n\n being able to help the game, helping people and having them\n say thank you, maybe being excited that someone treated them\n well. Being able to kill people and get away with it... did I\n say that?\n\n What are some of the things you handle as an immortal?\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Feature Story\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nA Chat with Valanna\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n The Symposium is where a lot of my work happens. But I also\n do name authing, channel monitoring, law enforcement, The\n usual imm stuff. And I am also trying to build and I'm also\n trying to listen to guild concerns now.\n\n Can you describe the Symposium?\n\n The Symposium is a bit of chaos *grins evilly* It's actually\n quite important, if unknown. People can go to The Symposium\n about game problems, ideas, improvements. My job is to sort\n of make sure people behave in meetings, and bring the ideas\n to the next level, making sure they are presentable.\n\n Do you still come back to play with your mortal characters?\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Feature Story\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nA Chat with Valanna\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n I have one mortal, and it doesn't have the best base stats or\n equipment and I love being an imm, so I do not go mortal very\n much.\n\n How long do you see the Realms lasting? I mean with all of the\n advancements in other online gamming.\n\n Five or six years or more! Something like everquest may look\n pretty (I am prettier, of course), but they aren't so\n interactive, not as much variety. We can make mobs just as\n interesting, if not more so, with mob programs. Text is very\n easy to use to create a mood. I saw an EQ web site, they have\n only three armor types, and you can find magical versions.\n Talk about boring! And newer games probably steal from our\n ideas, we're pretty cutting edge. Other muds try to steal our\n areas, after all, but we don't let them.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Feature Story\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nA Chat with Valanna\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n What are some of your favorite memories of this place so far?\n\n Ooo, memories. Fighting Seth. That was weird, and long ago I\n ended up with a Genesis, now autodeleted. I knew some people,\n on my own I could do well, but not great. Friends, a lot of\n memories of those few, special friends I have here. And some\n good laughs at some mudsex mischanelling by people who seemed\n to vanish for a month afterwards. Remember, gt should be used\n for grouptalk, and reply is evil. I've intercepted some weird\n tells. It's evil, and not in the imm way.\n\n If you had to describe Valanna to a new player in the realms\n how would you describe yourself?\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Feature Story\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nA Chat with Valanna\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n Valanna is very nice, mature, clever, and tolerates no\n attitude or abuse from anyone. She can be quite evil in the\n purpose of good, but if you treat her with respect, be polite,\n she'll probably talk to you, despite being an imm. But never\n try to hit on her. And never ask for her picture. I don't do\n mud relationships. I need a man, not a boy who thinks he can,\n to quote a song many people may hate. It is not a criticism\n of anyone else it's just not what I need out of life. Others\n make it work, or do it just for fun on the mud.\n\n Obsessions?\n\n Shoes, I feel very much the stereotype for it, but I will not\n be ashamed of it.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Feature Story\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nA Chat with Valanna\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n Music?\n\n Nine Inch Nails is probably my favourite thing to listen to.\n It really creates a mood and great images in my mind. And it\n can cheer me up, strangely enough. I really admire Trent\n Reznor for his ability to put emotion into his music. I also\n like a lot of Canadian rock bans, Econoline Crush is my\n favourite, and I listen to pretty much anything but rap. Even\n Spice Girls or Brittney Spears, or however you spell it.\n\n What do you do when your not on the Realms?\n\n I hang out with my sister, she's my best friend. We watch\n movies, hang out, sample restaurants, all sorts of things.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Feature Story\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nA Chat with Valanna\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n We also share a house, it makes it a lot easier. And I try\n to spend a lot of time with my mom, my other best friend.\n I like to write, listen to music, I don't watch much\n television.\n\n How much difference is there between Valanna and the person\n who plays her?\n\n Not that much difference, I try to be myself as much as\n possible here, I feel being genuine is a lot better, and I hate\n when people judge or label me, so I would rather that people\n know the real me. I keep back a few things, and so far I\n refuse to post my picture, but I am pretty open about who I\n am, my background, likes, dislikes, and opinionated. I am\n only different in that I am not so shy here. And maybe not as\n zany as I am in real life *giggles*\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Cloak and Dagger\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nA List of RoD Role Players\nBy: Micala\n\n Almin Alric Aelrynn Aerenaliil Andra Artegal Alruun Armagon\n Aislinn Aithne Alerious Ardrolath Arcum Athuro Ararat Abalon\n Bacara Bainnor Brakko Basyst Belzark Braiden Brytta Caradoc\n Centaur Brakko Basyst Belzark Braiden Brytta Caradoc Centauri\n Chengis Cassoc Chantel Cyniq Chyan Chrys Cheyenne Cilinia\n Cadimus Colin Cerius Capercailie Cilla Caradal Dianya Duvessa\n Dalamar Daltorak Dumaka Dyral Dagonet Derai Destai Dron\n Decantor Dlisse Dragonslance Evwren Eurillae\n Elaira Elwyn Eilowny Espiritae Euryanthe Elirian Edmond\n Elain Eol Faya Felwyn Fixen Fennel Ffaenn Faradhi Gavilan\n Gwyen Gwvyrn Grador Geriand Gundakl Gilcrist Garland Gallant\n Glissant Geandakin Goomra Hilgendo Hoerkin Itolea Ivana Ilena\n Inka Jahsel Jeris Jotun Jago Jessail Jaral Hoerkin Itolea\n Ivana Ilena Inka Jahsel Jeris Jotun Jago Jessail Jaralie\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Cloak and Dagger\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nA List of RoD Role Players\nBy: Micala\n\n Juliana Jesnar Jancia Jermyn Keltoral Kabath Kharis Kaan Khare\n Kleef Kije Kitra Kevyn Kurin Leala Lyrias Lleryn Lacette Laramy\n Lanifin Lashina Lajos Lethean Mulum Mordrith Marikka Moonfire\n Mea Menoch Mudo Micala Magiua Mirelle Nieda Nocturus Nuada\n Nirisa Nareen Nimue Nerzuel Ollvis Pellinor Perelli Pryce\n Pfarel Phelan Piedro Quanmkyi Ryvar Razfellow Radessi Rajelvas\n Refkine Radessi Rajelvas Refkine Racin Rikka Shandryl Schravyn\n Sarrin Shagoth Shin Serepath Sunfire Seraethia Shingo Sagat\n Shilo Thorgrim Thromalin Tannlynn Tharakin Teklas Telnarus\n Talissin Tebazilen Tarenali Tweeg Tarnysh Togras Tyran Torinir\n Turancila Tso Tselkyt Utinni Uraj Vorya Vortex Vestia Vaelyn\n Volki Vaneranin Welles Wavin Xanthia Ynnug Yandall Ylysarah\n Zeon Zenobia Zenora Zulix Zosdar\n And the list continues.....\n List was taken from Alric's web site at\n http:\/\/members.xoom.com\/pelagia\/rpcraft.html\n We thank you, Alric, for providing such an extensive list\n of players. Back in the day when there was not\n an option of peacefuls, when Seth eq was unheard of--then, was\n when the most dangerous people in the history of realms were\n born. They fought real people - not mindless machines based\n on code. Then was when true wit and brute force came into play.\n But now, Pk is at an all time low, with only but 5, 6, or\n sometimes 7 deadlies ruling their town, opposed to the 2-400\n something peacefuls overrunning the rest of the world. Where\n did these courageous fighters retreat to when the peacefuls\n drove them out, forcing them to live a different lifestyle?\n To the ruins--a place that they can call their own. But even\n the ruins isn't a haven for the deadlies any more, they are\n rapidly losing numbers as the peacefuls grow and grow. When\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n The Ruins\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nWelcome to the Ruins\nBy: Odessyus Harthlen\n\n will the fighters come out into the light of day once again,\n and show that light of day once again, and show that they are\n the true inhabitants of the realms? I, nor the remaining\n deadlies, can answer that question. It is up to you, the\n peacefuls of the realms, to adopt a deadly of your own and to\n repopulate the pkillers.\n\n From this day forth, I am going to start a section pertaining\n only to the subject of Pkill--The Ruins. Mudmail me anything\n that you wish to post about Pkill--ideas, wartalks, stories,\n fights, any information that you think is appropriate for this\n section. Contact me, Odessyus, if you have any questions or\n suggestions.\n Since this is the opening week of The Ruins, I will only have\n little information, it is about the current status of little\n information, it is about the current status of Pkill, and what\n seems will be done with the new clans and such.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n The Ruins\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nWelcome to the Ruins\nBy: Odessyus Harthlen\n\n Currently, Deadly Pkill is in a peacetime to get newbies to\n join and learn the ways of the deadly. The only fights that\n happen are between newbies or people that agree upon a fight.\n There are also no clans at the moment, new ones are being\n proposed and such. CoE is apparently opened to all ideas but\n there are certain guidelines that one must follow, which right\n now are: Must have a Deity sponsor, Leader, First, Second, and\n three other active members. Nothing has yet been decided on\n clan equipment.\n Sorry about the length of this weeks, but I already explained\n it above. Anyways, create a deadly, foster your abilities, it\n never gets old. (The adrenaline rush is neat too).\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Mud Marriages\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nThe good. The bad. The but honey... (part 3 of 3)\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n I want to start the last article in my series by thanking all\n of the people I met and talked to and all the people who sent\n me mail telling of how they met and how they are doing. It has\n been nothing more than an honor.\n Okay, let us start with the good. And one of the best 'good'\n stories I can share with you, and many of you all know them\n both, is the parts of a letter Aeriel Crystalheart sent me:\n\n ...I married Adric here back in January, and this not only has\n lasted online, but we took it to r\/l as well, which is\n partially the reason I am so late in responding to you (He\n stayed here for the summer, and we stayed offline the last\n couple weeks of his visit before I had to take him home for\n college.)\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Mud Marriages\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nThe good. The bad. The but honey... (part 3 of 3)\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n With Adric, I have finally found the one person who could put\n up with me...he is absolutely wonderful. I never in a million\n years thought that I would, or even could, find the person I\n would want to spend the rest of my r\/l with on a mud...but I\n did. And never once have I regretted the decisions with him\n that I have made, except for maybe not marrying him sooner\n *grin*. To both of us, mud-marriage is just as much of a\n commitment as the r\/l thing...he and I both consider seeing\n someone else with an alt as cheating, etc...it is still the\n same person behind the keyboard.\n When you meet in a MUD, it can be difficult to get to know\n a person truly at times, but with effort on both sides, it is\n possible. Adric and I have to work on our relationship, both\n online and in r\/l, to keep things smooth, but it has been\n worth it. If we can get through these next 2 years, seeing\n each other online, and sporadic r\/l visits, we can get through\n anything. =)\n Aeriel Crystalheart\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Mud Marriages\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nThe good. The bad. The but honey... (part 3 of 3)\nBy: Kuah Cha'Din\n\n Now for the bad. Sometimes things just do not work out. And we\n must remember the most basic of facts, people can be cruel.\n And to be fair, sometimes something as simple as losing your\n ISP or way to connect to the internet can kill the most basic\n of relationships. I could go into a long detail of 'he said'\n 'she said' about how relationships end in this environment. And\n to be honest more than most of you would find it a good read.\n Many of you may know of how lucky I was to of met Elisabet and\n have a mud marriage of my own. And (un)like most we had became\n friends in the real world. (We both have pretty phone bills\n to show for it!) But sometimes things can go sour. I made some\n mistakes and took some things personal I should not of. No\n need to go into details, and I am not asking for forgiveness,\n just a chance to say in front of all the Realms, Elisabet, I\n am sorry for what I did.\n\n Thanks to all the wonderful couples I had the chance to meet.\n Kuah Cha'Din.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n Funny Bones\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nFunny Bones\nBy: Micala, Shingo and Elbanon\n\n Funny Titles\n\n Jonerik If I'd shot you when I wanted to,I'd be out by now\n Kirg Endymion. '...I like my old ways, but I\n also like when things change... new opportunities and stuff -Tso\n\n ...Bring back c locate! -Susannah\n\n The glory thing sucks, where's our locate The glory thing is\n nobody's business -Aurale\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n The CoD Poll\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nWhat do you Think of the Recent Changes?\nBy: The CoD Staff\n\n We should be able to auction containers. There's no reason\n why not, and it was a lot of fun to bid on containers full\n of items:) -Garlain\n\n I think they are over-balancing the game, taking some of the\n fun out of it. If they make it too tough, then nobody will\n want to play it any more -Zistrosk\n\n well the only one I think I like, is the no supp from\n seth's. darko and seth are killed way too much and it's\n a good way to discourage some people. -Pamalia\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n The CoD Poll\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nWhat do you Think of the Recent Changes?\nBy: The CoD Staff\n\n They suck about as much as multi limits to ppl with armies\n :P -Palin\n\n hmm...I like the glory in bio, the farsight thing I don't\n really like, and I want locate back. -Huyin\n\n Basically they suck-especially the plevel change. -Trandlarias\n\n Mutter, bring locate back and stop making mobs harder. -Andarat\n\n I think some of them such as the strengthening of some mobs was\n not good, but the rest were good (that i know of). -Daphnie\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n The CoD Poll\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nWhat do you Think of the Recent Changes?\nBy: The CoD Staff\n\n For the most part, they absolutely SUCK. -Someone\n\n Some I don't like.. like... the feeling farsights, that is\n annoying. Locate object being down is far more than annoying.\n End of pkill is kinda.. well.. sad in a way.. sucks. Stat names\n removal is interesting.. odd in a way. (I) like glory being in\n the bio. -James\n\n The locate was disabled for a good reason, it was crashing the\n game. The pkill, I don't know. I haven't done much of that. Glory\n in bio is cool. I don't mind it. Seth, is not too bad. I'm more\n concerned with what's coming up in January. I'm new, and not very\n rich. But now, I'm sure I'll never be able to afford seth\n eq. -Eldygar\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------\n The CoD Poll\n----------------------------------------------------------------\nWhat do you Think of the Recent Changes?\nBy: The CoD Staff\n\n Unhappy with the deadly side of things of course..and not\n liking the fact that locate is out..but otherwise things are\n looking good -Thorpe\n\n Well, locate is a temporary bug, some kinda bug with the new\n pager code, so I don't think I can comment on that, hope it\n will be fixed soon like everyone else. I'm not clear why\n peacefuls get farsight messages, seems spammy and not real\n useful. Clans, well I'm not a pkiller, and I'll reserve\n judgment till I see what they replace them with. The nosupp\n and glory in bio... can't say I have strong opinions.\n -Covellia\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------\n ___ ___ __ ___ ____ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ _ ___\n \/ \/ `| |_)\\\/ \/ \/ \/ \\| |_ | | \\| |_( ( | |_)\/ \/_\\ | || |_)\n \\_\\_,|_| \\\/_\/ \\_\\_\/|_| |_|_\/|_|__)_)|_| \/_\/ \\|_||_| \\\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------\n Number 24\n Staff:\n Alerious, Apollonia, Elbanon, Kuah Cha'Din, Micala,\n Odessyus Harthlen, Shingo, Thabo Beerquaffer, Tobie\n\n Mortal editor, Darian Moeror\n Immortal editors, Ayesh, Lascivias\n\n\n Thank you very much for reading.\n - The Society of Scribes\n----------------------------------------------------------------<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Chat with Valanna, MUD Marriage Part 3 ————————————————————— ___ ___ __ ___ ____ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ _ ___ \/ \/ `| |_)\\\/ \/ \/ \/ \\| |_ | | \\| |_( ( | |_)\/ \/_\\ | || |_) \\_\\_,|_| \\\/_\/ \\_\\_\/|_| |_|_\/|_|__)_)|_| \/_\/ \\|_||_| \\ ————————————————————— Number 24 Staff: Alerious, Apollonia, Elbanon, Kuah…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"page-templates\/full-width.php","meta":{"footnotes":"","_members_access_role":[],"_members_access_error":""},"class_list":["post-1766","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1766","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1766"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1766\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1777,"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1766\/revisions\/1777"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1766"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
