Alegifu\n\n Being just one of the ppl without getting powertrippy. Kirg\n\n Be able to delegate responsibilities in a way that makes the\n subjects around him feel that they are part of something\n good. Seantier\n\n A strong imagination, a good head, the ability to make decisions\n and a good supply of quality drugs in case the first three don't\n work. Doreen\n\n A good leader is some one who cares enough to lead by\n example. Aglician\n\n What makes a good leader?\n\n Animal magnetism. Its all about the sexiness. Valashrect\n\n someone who is good with dealing with people, in good times and\n bad. Calandra\n\n Someone who can consume more alcohol than an elephant. Feyd\n\n Compassion and understanding. Leaders have to listen to their\n members, whether guild or order. Bertram\n\n hrm, commitment. Lopuis\n\n Ability to direct people, ability to keep a cool head when\n things go wrong, tactfulness in conversation, ability to write\n notes. Zwanth\n\n What makes a good leader?\n\n\n Someone who leads by example, someone who cares about those who\n they lead, and someone who's experience benefits those under\n him. Asmodeous\n\n Someone who can recognize the faults of themself and their\n followers and figure a plan to make them better. Jigure\n\n Someone who is strong in their conviction yet is willing to\n listen to his fellow guildsmen for ideas. Merkyl\n\n Thanks to all of you who took time to reply!\n\n.................................................................\n                          ask the CoE\n.................................................................\n\n Why no option to delete a character?\n\n This policy has been in place for as long as I have played\n Realms. Since 'because it has always been that way' isn't much\n of an answer, I can only give my view of the situation. A\n character can always be deleted for the wrong reason. If you\n are hacked, someone could just delete you. If you have a bad\n day, delete yourself, then change your mind, you have no\n further recourse. While the argument could be made that many\n players are old enough and mature enough to make their own\n decisions, I think the potential administrative problems it\n could cause would be nightmarish. Just judging on the amount\n of problems the Oracle deals with on a regular basis I can't\n see adding one more problem to the pile. A character can be\n deleted if you simply have the patience to see it out.\n\n Why do thief mobs only keep a percentage of the gold they steal?\n\n Thieves, as well as other mobs in an area, deposit their gold\n into their area's economy. The policy has its drawbacks and\n benefits. It prevents unscrupulous players from abusing thief\n mobs to line their own pockets. However, there is the ever so\n annoying 'Hey, this thief stole one bajillion coins from me and\n I only got 4 back when I killed it'. The two offset each other.\n And frankly, if I ever pick your pocket, I'm going to stash that\n cash as quickly as possible. Um, hypothetically speaking, of\n course.\n\n Consider OOG items: Why remove the item from the mob, but not\n the items(s) from the player?\n\n That's a rather broad question. I think each item removed from\n the game has its own set of reasons. For instance, Uncertainty\n is out of the game and was removed to further the story line of\n Scourge of Time. Simply because the smack was laid down on Jagr\n does not mean everyone who had an Uncertainty should loose it.\n Some items were intentionally added for a short period of time,\n like Goroggles. 'Old clan' is the remnants of the early pkill\n system. The tendency among immortals is to avoid stripping items\n away from players. It has happened in the past, but we usually\n will leave what has been earned with a player.\n\n Do you find it difficult to address lack of interest from long\n time players?\n\n The difficulty lies morein keeping the game both interesting and\n balanced. The latest spurt of disinterest among some older\n players is due mainly to a lack of new areas\/new major code over\n the past year and a half. Yes, new areas and new code will be\n coming as soon as we are humanly able to have it set and working\n properly. A bulk of this work has been completed and a lot of\n what is occurring now is tying up loose ends. The immortals who\n have worked on our new projects have slaved endlessly and\n deserve more respect and recognition that I can cram into this\n measly little buffer (You know who you are). I think I can\n safely say when all is said and done, your socks are gonna be\n knocked off.\n\n Thanks to Kali who always takes the time to answer your\n questions. A desc should show\n what your character looks like, usually in such a way that some\n of his character is revealed as well. The most important thing\n about a desc is to keep it just a desc!\n That is, none of this:\n\n Bob turns towards you and grins, showing off a mouth of jagged\n teeth.\n\n What happens if you look at Bob when he's asleep? Or fighting?\n Or making out with Jill? Actions are right out. Just describe\n what the character looks like.\n\n A good desc is memorable and unique, so avoid cliches. Eyes do\n not burn into souls. And please, avoid having the viewer take\n action, for example:\n\n You see Bob's buff manly physique and butterflies stir in your\n stomach. You've never believed in love at first site before...\n\n What if the viewer is a man? Or a militant lesbian?  Or is\n simply turned off by smelly half-trolls? (There's a lot of us.)\n editors note: Naith's views on us half-trolls are her own!!\n You can't make someone fall in love with you, or have a chill\n go up their spine, or even have an urge to look away.\n\n In RP, you only control you. Include plenty of detail.\n Is your character rich? Describe their expensive tailored\n clothing. Is she a seductress? (Aren't we all?) Note that a\n scent of jasmine wafts from her.\n\n Try to show instead of tell, like instead of this:\n\n Bob has the pendant of the Winkle family.\n\n Do this:\n Hanging from a silken cord about Bob's neck glints a bronze\n talisman with a trollish rune raised from it.\n\n Think of the viewer as knowing nothing.
