Feedback! No megalomania from me this\n\n issue, lets talk awards and hit the mailbag:\n\n \n\n I feel the Awards would have been conducted better as a poll.\n\n I do not dispute the results, what happened has happened. I feel\n\n a more widespread picture of \"Who's who in RoD\" would be found\n\n through polling. If you come up with the same results then maybe\n\n I was wrong. I think the awards were neat but very, very\n\n predictable. Thank you for putting it together, I still enjoyed\n\n reading them.\n\n \n\n Dekkath Darkraven, Lizard King\n\n \n\n I agree. By no means should the results of the awards thing be\n\n considered a true reading of the masses feelings. Everyone had\n\n \n\n a vote and only a good handfull used it. Your suggestion of mass\n\n polling for a widespread collection of opinions is a good one,\n\n and will very much be considered for the future. I am glad you\n\n enjoyed reading the results, as did many, and thank you for the\n\n feedback. I'd like to share some of what I\n\n learned about this strong, proud, but overall cuddly orc.\n\n \n\n Grishnakh was brought to the Realms in college by his friend,\n\n who played the character Zaknafein. Pretty soon, Grishnakh was\n\n hooked. At around level 35 he joined a group of players who had\n\n formed an unofficial group called Dragonslayer. Soon, a HQ was\n\n built, and Dragonslayer became one of the first clans.\n\n \n\n \"That was the Realms first foray into pkill, It was really kind\n\n of chaotic and messy, but it was fun. The first clan war was\n\n Dragonslayer vs. Inconnu.\"\n\n \n\n In January of 1995, Grishnakh was offered either leadership of\n\n Dragonslayer, or immortality. He chose imming.\n\n \n\n \"I should have stayed a mortal longer, there was so much more I\n\n could have experienced. But I made my choice.\"\n\n \n\n Grishnakh built the area Morgul Vale and served on the Council\n\n of Elders on two instances. He also helped develop the guilds.\n\n \n\n \"The Realms Guild system was slow to start, so I helped out by\n\n giving it a jumpstart.\"\n\n \n\n In more recent history, Grishnakh is involved with the Neophyte\n\n \n\n Council, which he helped found. The Neophyte Council is in\n\n charge of overseeing new immortals, mostly through the mentoring\n\n system.\n\n \n\n \"I have been... trying to help out new immortals and maybe share\n\n some of my wisdom and experience.\"\n\n \n\n Grishnakh QUICK FACTS:\n\n Favorite Brady hates all Bradys\n\n Number of ex-wives five\n\n Favorite color dark green\n\n Nail polish would be black\n\n Favorite zoo animal the zoo visitors\n\n Morning or evening? evening\n\n Boxers or briefs? boxers\n\n \n\n =================================================================\n\n Ask the CoE By: Kuah\n\n =================================================================\n\n \n\n Welcome to another new feature we plan on bringing you every\n\n issue. What we did was go out at random and ask people, 'If you\n\n had the chance to ask the CoE a question about gameplay and\n\n rules, what would you ask?'.\n\n Kali has agreed to take some time out every issue to respond to\n\n a few of these questions.\n\n \n\n Why no Banks?\n\n The question would be better phrased 'When will we get Banks?'.\n\n There is no real opposition to the addition of banks, we simply\n\n haven't decided on the best means of adding them. At some point\n\n (which is not the same as 'soon' and does not mean repeatedly\n\n asking 'When will we get banks because you said we will?'),\n\n banks will be a likely addition to the Realms.\n\n \n\n Why does auction not run 24 hours?\n\n While we may now live in a time of 24 hour shopping channels and\n\n infommercials, Realms is not set in a modern time. I realize we\n\n do not completely conform to rules of realism, but sometimes we\n\n prefer to look at things from a conceptual standpoint instead of\n\n simply one of game mechanics. An auctioneer selling goods at all\n\n hours seems a bit too modern to me.\n\n \n\n You can look forward to other changes to auction in the future\n\n though. Perhaps at that point we could address hours, but it\n\n isn't something I would expect to see change.\n\n \n\n Will the skill 'detrap' ever have a working function again?\n\n That depends more on our builders than an edict from on high.\n\n If you guys want more traps, then by crackey, we'll let them\n\n know you want more traps in areas! Detrap, and trap items,\n\n work just fine. They simply have never been utilized to their\n\n full capacity.\n\n \n\n Have a game\/rule related question you would like to see the\n\n answer to? Then submit your question to the CoD Public boards\n\n located south of Quills and Parchments on Market Street or\n\n in the Town Hall, located e,s,2u,s,w,s from Darkhaven Square.\n\n Thanks to Kali for taking the time to help us with this!\n\n \n\n =================================================================\n\n A Tribute to Linda By: Submitted by\n Racin\n\n =================================================================\n\n \n\n Many years ago when GoR's Vallenwood Tree was but a seedling\n\n upon a large hill, a young female dwarf aproached full of\n\n wonder.\n\n She had heard rumours that many great Rangers of this wonderous\n\n Realm resided there, and sought them, to be among those who like\n\n herself, found great joy in solitude and nature.\n\n Linda Silverwolf made her pitch to the guild, and after a few\n\n tests of her abilities, she was welcomed as a sister into ranks\n\n of GoR.\n\n Like the seedling which grew into the mighty Vallenwood, that we\n\n of GoR now call home, that young dwarf grew and matured. Linda,\n\n having proved her worth was elected into a leadership role\n\n within the guild.\n\n Linda weathered many storms during her time as a leader, and\n\n rose to the rank of Guildmaster. Both the Vallenwood and this\n\n mysterious dwarf, seen many a ranger come and go from the ranks\n\n of the guild.\n\n \n\n Then one day, a young elf also sought out those Rangers of lore.\n\n Having passed the tests of entrance, yet still a lowly Pledge,\n\n I, Racin Atal was caught in a most unpleasant trap below the\n\n ocean near the home of King Neptune. When the feared Guildmaster\n\n arrived to lead me and my wounded companions to the safety of\n\n dry land.\n\n Many years later, having watched Linda lead the rangers of the\n\n guild, I too joined the ranks of leadership. Once again Linda\n\n was there to teach and guide me through those first few months.\n\n Among the greatest things taught to me by Linda, is that All\n\n Leaders Must Lead by Example. This means you do not Swear after\n\n using a mages QSpike scrolls, killing yourself by misreading\n\n them. But, GoR's Linda would never do such a thing, for she was\n\n always the first to reprimand a guild member for foul language.\n\n Linda, you have been a Great Teacher\/Leader and friend to many\n\n \n\n of the Rangers who have wondered these Realms over the past 3\n\n years. Many have moved on to Orders, or have departed these\n\n Realms entirely, but you have touched us all for the better.\n\n I can only hope to be half the Leader that you were, for so\n\n long. Remember that the Vallenwood Tree, that you nutured and\n\n helped to grow, will always be your home Linda Silverwolf.\n\n \n\n With Thanks for Many Great Years of Service to GoR\n\n \n\n \n\n Racin Atal, Guildmaster, Guild of Rangers\n\n \n\n =================================================================\n\n Quest and Contest By: Elisabet\n and the CoD Staff\n\n =================================================================\n\n \n\n .:*-*:._.:*-*:._.:*-*:._.:*-*:._.:*-*:._.:*-*:.\n\n .\n \n .\n\n .\n \n . . .\n\n .
