I've been trying to figure out a way to boost turnout. I mean, we're\ngiving things to you for minimal effort - you'd think it'd be easy to \/give\/\nthings away. So, please, mudmail me with suggestions or ideas on what YOU would\nlike to see offered in a CoD quest. Prizes, types of quests, difficulties - any\ninput would be appreciated. In the meantime, I've setup a little holiday quest \nfor Christmas\/Solstice\/Kwanzaa\/Chanukah\/Emperor's Birthday\/etcetera. (Page ??)\n In CoD news, we're hiring. Pay rates are 25m for a feature, 15m for a unique\narticle, 10m for a standard article, and 5m for generic articles submitted \nbecause you needed heal money and\/or are desperately lonely and need attention.\nYou might get bonuses for making my life easier by fixing the spelling before\nsubmitting articles as well. If you'd like to join, find a CoD member - \nc locate fountain-pen works - or contact myself or Alysira.\n Please pardon Babui and Aslan's absence this month, they've been a bit busy.\n (Does anyone actually read the headers?)\n\n(End) \n_______________________________________________________________________________\n|_____________________________________________________________________________\/\n\n\n\n _________________________\n\/ Christmas Quest - Genge \\___________________________________________________\n|_____________________________________________________________________________\\\n\n So, I promised a quest earlier. Here's the gig:\n - Write a Christmas shopping list with what you would get for at least ten\n (10) immortals, guild\/order\/clan\/council leaders, or any combination \n thereof. What would they want? Why would they want it?\n - Bonus points for using in game items instead of real things.\n - Feel free to have more than ten people listed, we'll just pick the best\n ten for judging.\n - The number of prizes this month are determined by the number of people\n who enter the contest. If 10 or less people enter, there is only one up\n for grabs, but every additional 10 people adds another one. Don't use your\n alts, or I'll sic Kate on you. If you ever wanted to try PK, \n and are using fear of being whacked twenty times while leveling as an\n excuse, consider your excuse gone. Jordan and I decided to come up with clan eq\nstats\/names, we sat in the PKC room for four hours and did it.'\nMatanza says 'When Artifacts were taking too long, we mudmailed\nBlodkai and got them in within 24 hours (Ophanim\/Scorn era)'\nMatanza says 'I just don't see that kind of initiative being taken by\nPKC members these days'\nYou say to Matanza, 'I'm still wondering why you aren't on PKC?'\nMatanza says 'I've been asked'\nMatanza wonders 'The primary reason is exactly what I just stated..\nThe current members are a joke. How many of the members of PKC right\nnow are actively involved in more than just voting on notes?'\nMatanza says 'While I don't disagree that there have been issues in\nthe past with TS, it comes down to the individual member's\ncontributions. I feel TS needs a deadly voice to say things like\n\"two handed will break pk\" or \"charge will break pk\"'\nMatanza says 'Despite the fact that both two handed and Barbarians \nskipped TS, they were projects done exclusively by immortals, it is\nan example.'\nYou say 'those are things we can always undo on the pk side'\nMatanza says 'Yeah, but that requires code changes. If someone is\nthere at the ground level saying \"this idea should not be denied, but\nshould be changed so it doesn't unbalance pkill\", then we're cutting\ndown on OVERALL code time.'\nMatanza says 'Back to the topic of bringing in more players to the\nMUD in general, if I'm working with TS on general mud issues, then\nI'm helping make the MUD a better place, not just pkill.'\nYou wonder 'On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate immortal support\nto the PK community, and why?'\nMatanza says 'That question needs to be preceded with how would I\nrate the immortal respect BY the PK community, because that leads\ninto the answer.'\nMatanza says 'I do know that getting immortals to turn deadly is not an\neasy task. The general arguments about channel laws all go into the \nlack of respect a lot of pkillers give immortals'\nMatanza says 'And then they [pkillers] turn around and bitch about why\nwe haven't seen code changes in months.'\nMatanza says 'Conran and Kinux recently worked one night and got our\ntruesight potions working, simply because they were asked to on\nwartalk and had some spare time.'\nMatanza says 'I think current immortal support of pkill is extremely\nlow, but I think it's because of things like PKC having poor\nrepresentation, and the general state of wartalk.'\nYou wonder 'i have company over, so i need to run, that was the last\nquestion anyone... is there anything else at all you would like to\nsee added to this interview?'\nMatanza says 'CAKE FOR CATARRH'\nYou say 'note for Ceirana :p'\nYou say 'ok, thanks for the time Jess.'\nMatanza twirls in a graceful pirouette.\n\n(End) \n_______________________________________________________________________________\n|_____________________________________________________________________________\/\n\n\n\n _______________________\n\/ Class: Druids - Genge \\_____________________________________________________\n|_____________________________________________________________________________\\\n\n Druids are RoD's Jack-of-all-trades. They do everything pretty well, but \ndon't do anything clearly the best. They get good hp, a plethora of skills,\nand two alpha attacks. They can tank, hit, heal, and spell up - they're just\nnot usually the best at any of those things. Still, they're nice to have\naround - particularly if you're too lazy to log alts to take care of various\ntasks. Well, mostly they're used as tanks\nfor mobs that deal mostly elemental damge - note the 95 dodge\/parry and heavy\nelemental resists. Admittedly, they do drop more potions than vampires, but on\nsome mobs the hp saved by the resists makes up for it. They can also hit while\ntanking if you time things correctly. Fire breath has only 4 beats of lag, as \nspiral, so if you breathe right after you quaff your hp up you can do extra\ndamage with no noticable impact on your tanking ability. They're also capable\nof curing the blindness of group members whose truesight runs, and respelling\neshields if a stave breaks. They have the highest rescue adept rate in the game\nas well, making them quite accurate in their attempts to save people.\n Because they have so many skills, druids are also very good for exploring. \nThey have both scry and scan, track, several skills to make markers, etc. - and\nthey can take care of any ailments that might happen along the way, and survive\nif they run into an unexpected mobile. They actually have even more skills, but\nI didn't list them all because I'm sure you get the picture.\n Do you really need a druid? Probably not. They're good if you're lazy, but if\nyou're lazy it's unlikely you'd bother leveling one. Still, if you need a main\nwith a detect spell - and the ability to avoid illegal pkills, they're a good\nchoice because it'll save logging alts for common tasks down the line.\n\n(End) \n_______________________________________________________________________________\n|_____________________________________________________________________________\/<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Matanza: his interview, his zombie costume; Ringbearers: batty _____________________________________________________ \/ Contents – Cry of Despair, Issue 101, November 2005 \\_______________________ |_____________________________________________________________________________\\ From the Editor Editor’s Note – by Genge Christmas Quest – by Genge Fun and Entertainment – Sub-Editor: Babui Title Submissions Cry of Despair Quest – by Alysira News From Around The Realms -…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"page-templates\/full-width.php","meta":{"footnotes":"","_members_access_role":[],"_members_access_error":""},"class_list":["post-1924","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1924","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1924"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1924\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1937,"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1924\/revisions\/1937"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/realmsofdespair.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1924"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
